What are the traditional TMJ pain treatments?
The most traditional form of temporomandibular joint disorder (TMJD) treatment has been to prescribe bite splints. These are plastic bite splints that fit over the upper or lower teeth to prevent the teeth from coming together, thus reducing the amount of clenching and grinding. While bite splints help to reduce TMJ pain they have shortcomings. They cannot be worn while eating and they also affect speech. As a result they are typically only worn at night while sleeping.
Cerezen™ ear canal inserts however, are ideal for daytime use. The custom, hollow ear inserts for TMJ do not affect eating or speaking and are barely visible. They are comfortable enough to wear all day while they relieve TMJ pain.
